Twitter user NWPlayer123 is reporting that according to the BCAT for Mortal Kombat 11, the base game is only 6.37 GB, meaning there is approximately a 15.9 GB update required to download on launch day. THe BCAT is a way for developers to push updates when they are ready to be eventually dropped. They also detailed the size of Mortal Kombat 11, 22.53GB for the Nintendo Switch version. This would come as a huge disappointment to many, as 15.9 GB is a significant download, especially considering the 32 GB of internal memory the Switch has.
NWPlayer123 detailed that they believe Warner Bros. opted for an 8GB cartridge, lining up with the 6.37 GB base game size. If true, then even physical owners will have a large update to download. Switch cartridge prices are relatively expensive, and this has led to games in the past resorting to smaller cartridges, which results in a large download. It’s a shame Warner Bros. didn’t opt for a 16GB cart, for this is another example of the “Switch Tax”
NWPlayer123 also mentioned that 13 DLC slots were found, with the first DLC fighter releasing on launch day. The others are marked with a placeholder date of December 31st, 2019.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches on PC, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on April 23rd. We will continue to bring updates as we get them on Mortal Kombat 11.
