One thing that I always see is a misconception about how many studios Sony has and what they’re working on, so let’s get down to it. Here are all 17 of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios.

Bend Studio

About – Formed in 1993 as Blank, Berlyn, and Co. and later named Eidetic, this Oregon studio worked on the infamous Bubsy 3D. In 1999, they released Syphon Filter and later acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment after the release of Syphon Filter 2 in 2000. The studio worked on 2 Uncharted titles and a Resistance title outside of Syphon Filter.

Located – Toyko, Japan

What they’re working on – Everybody’s Golf VR

What could come in the future – For the first time in I think the studio’s history, not a single one of their internal teams have a game announced. So they are likely working on new titles for PS5 since it is so late in the generation. We only know of Everybody’s Golf VR for External Development, but it is 100% safe to assume that we will get a new Everybody’s Golf from Clap Hanz via External Development alongside something from FromSoftware.

Manchester Studio

What could come in the future – After Dreams, who can really tell. Tearaway 2 is my bid.

Naughty Dog

About – SIE’s oldest, non-original studio formed in 1984 as Jam Software. They started out with titles on the Apple II with games like Math Jam and Ski Crazed but didn’t begin getting recognition until Crash Bandicoot in 1996. Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired them in 2001. Since then they created even more iconic franchises like Jak & Daxter, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. Naughty Dog is considered the most important studio out of the bunch.

Located – Santa Monica, California

What they’re working on – The Last of Us Part II

What could come in the future – The studio started casting calls for a description that fits the characters in Savage Starlight, a spin-off in The Last of Us universe.

Santa Monica Studio

About – When this studio was formed in 1999, they didn’t actually make a God of War title for years. Various IPs came beforehand and the studio blossomed thanks to their External Development branch that made this studio the go-to for creative games like Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Sound Shapes, Hohokum, and more.

Located – Santa Monica, California

What they’re working on – TBA

What could come in the future – God of War II

What could come in the future – What would likely happen is they would continue this IP, rather than go back to Sly Cooper or inFamous.
