Sony Interactive Entertainment’s President and CEO Jim Ryan sat down in an interview with CNET talking about the future of PlayStation. In the interview, he claimed that PlayStation 5 will be able to play games at native 4K at 120 frames per second. This shouldn’t be surprising, given Polyphony Digital said they got Gran Turismo Sport running at 8K on this hardware.

People crave 60fps, in fact most say PS5 should have a 1080p/60 option. Well, it seems like all games will be able to hit 4K/60 if some games are reaching 120fps at 4K. Please note that these CPUs used in PS5, even the baseline ones from AMD in the Zen 2 family, are multiple times the power of PS4’s CPU. PS4’s CPU was weak even at the time of release, but these chips are insanely powerful. So it isn’t too far-fetched to see such a massive performance boost.
