If you’ve been looking to try out Quake II’s upcoming RTX mode then you won’t have to wait any longer. Quake II RTX is now available on Steam for free thanks to Nvidia’s new technologies.

Quake II RTX is a full re-imagining of the original Quake II, now offering cutting edge ray traced lighting that makes it look like a whole new game. The game now features heavily improved lighting, realistic shadows and ambient occlusion, and several other key features thanks to the ray tracing.

As of right now, you still have to pay around $6 in order to get access to the full set of maps and multiplayer functionality, but its still something everyone interested in graphical technologies should see for themselves. You can download the game here.
