Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Japan Studio is teasing something relating to Ape Escape. The Twitter account which was born just this month has already surpassed a massive 21K followers and Japan Studio’s Twitter is promoting it.

This could be for a TV show, PlayStation Productions did just open after all. However, the last real Ape Escape title was PlayStation Move: Ape Escape in 2011 so a franchise return is a possibility. Sony loves to bring back IPs that have had a quiet few years.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the game on the original PlayStation. This series spawned 14 entries, unfortunately many of them never launched outside of Japan.

Japan Studio is 1 of many Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios, alongside ForwardWorks and Polyphony Digital in Japan. They’re known for wacky games like Ape Escape, Patapon, Locoroco, alongside AAAs Shadow of the Colossus and Siren. The studio often collaborates with outside studios for titles like BloodBorne, Soul Sacrifice, Everybody’s Golf, plus countless others.
