For whatever reason, Nintendo has released a new firmware update for their last generation console the Wii U. There really isn’t anything of note, most likely just security patches like Sony Interactive Entertainment does for PS3 and PS Vita still to this day. So you aren’t gaining any new features or anything.

Patch notes are quite sparse:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

The Wii U released in November 2012 and was discontinued globally in January 2017, giving the console less than 5 full years on the market. Nintendo didn’t technically have a home console on the market for about a month in a half, as the Nintendo Switch did not launch until March 2017.
