Square Enix must be happy as a clam since their newest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV has been met with insane critical acclaim.

When the game initially launched, it only got a mere 49 on Metacritic, however the team didn’t give it and tried to prevail. When the game released on PS3 and PS4 alongside the revamp A Realm Reborn, the praise was completely different than the original game with an 86. They brought on a new director to really mark the change in the game. Then in 2015 with Heavensward, the train hit with another 86 and then even better in 2017 with Stormblood, it hits a monumental 89.

Now, the latest expansion currently sits at a 91 for both PS4 and PC on Metacritic. This is such an incredible jump from what the initial game had. Unfortunately, it can’t come to Xbox due to Microsoft’s strict regulations against Cross-Play, which is paramount to the title’s success. Moving over to the other side of the pond, a Nintendo Switch version is absolutely still possible as Square Enix is continuing talks with Nintendo to get this MMORPG on the go!
