The time has come and we have finally seen gameplay of 2019’s Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Prominent streamers CourageJD, ProSyndicate, TeePee, and LEGIQN have just streamed the game to the world for the very first time.
Immediately, as a Rainbow Six Siege fan, the similarities were striking. I took to the internet to see if others were seeing the similarities I was and they were. There is no denying this looks nothing like previous Call of Duty titles and more closely resembles the aesthetic of games like Rainbow Six Siege. Notwithstanding the obvious visual and animation resemblence, here is a look at how the UI is similar:
A very apparent similarity can be seen in the UI at the top of the screen. The colours, the displaying of health, and the amount of team-mates and enemies are all featured on both. This has never been in Call of Duty before. This UI display has been in Rainbow Six Siege since 2015. The font and text style also have a striking resemblence.
Overall, the similarities between this gameplay reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six Siege are immediately apprarent. In all fairness, this is only a snippet of the full game. The mode revealed today is called Gunfight – a 2v2 mode. There is every chance that the rest of the game may not bare such a striking resemblance to Rainbow Six Siege but we will have to wait until August 1 for the full gameplay reveal.
