Earlier this year President Donald Trump announced a tariff that would raise the prices of laptops, cell phones, video game consoles and more would come into effect on September 1st but according to the Washington Post that has been pushed back until later this year.

The 10% tariff would have negatively affected sales for consoles which could’ve seen an increase of 25% and this was the reason for the delay. President Trump was stated saying that he delayed the tariff so it wouldn’t get in the way of the Christmas shopping season. A while back Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft wrote a joint letter to the President stating that a tariff would raise the price of their consoles which would cause sales to decline as well as risking thousands of jobs. With the tariff on delay for at least this holiday season it means prices of current gen consoles will not change.
