The 2019 Pokémon World Championships, held in Washington D.C. this year, begin today, Friday August 16th at 9 a.m. EDT with the opening ceremony. Trainers from all over the world have been working hard year-round to earn their invitations, and the time has finally come for them to represent their countries on the world stage. There’s an entire weekend of Pokémon action ahead – the video game, trading card game, Pokkén, and even Pokémon Go are all being represented this year.

The World Championships will be streaming on YouTube and Twitch, with dedicated streams for every VGC and TCG round so you don’t miss a thing. With the swiss-style tournaments running Friday and Saturday, and finals on Sunday, it’s sure to be an incredible weekend of Pokémon!

Announcements regarding the upcoming titles, Pokémon Sword and Shield, are probably on the agenda, so if you’re a die-hard fan, stay tuned for any news that drops.
