Earlier this year, Colin Moriarty, a pretty high level person in the gaming industry, had said that another Ratchet & Clank game was coming specifically for PS4. Following the acquisition of Insomniac Games, things seem a little more realistic since Shawn Layden has since said that it was a vital part of the company.

Throwing thoughts together, it’s all starting to make sense. Insomniac Games has multiple teams, between their Marvel’s Spider-Man team, their VR team, alongside others too, the Ratchet & Clank team had to have been up to something since 2016.

Personally, this is just what I believe, it’ll be a sequel to Ratchet & Clank’s re-imagining from 2016. This is to avoid any further confusion moving forward about what timeline is what. This doesn’t mean a remastered collection of the PS2, PS3, and PSP games couldn’t happen, but it just wouldn’t follow any of those titles.

Now as to why this wouldn’t be for PS5, at least not at first, goes alongside the point I made above. This game must’ve been in development from mid-late 2016, long before development kits became available to the majority of developers. This coupled with Backwards Compatibility, it could be a perfect opportunity to get the game out fast without having to bend over backwards due to a time limit.

Ratchet & Clank is a brilliant franchise that Sony Interactive Entertainment has. It would be beyond incredible for it to continue.
