Xbox Game Studio’s Mojang has confirmed that Oculus Quest and Oculus Go versions of the world’s most popular game Minecraft is under review by Microsoft. While this means the games aren’t in development, at least on a large scale, the block building giant will come to standalone VR headsets.

While we have decided against a Java client for these platforms, we are still monitoring interest in a Bedrock version for these platforms.

Microsoft on Oculus Quest and Oculus Go versions of Minecraft

The porting team at Mojang has been hard at work on the Nintendo Switch version of the game for a long while so unfortunately this couldn’t have been tackled back then.

Minecraft is available on Samsung’s Gear VR which was co-developed by FaceBook so in theory porting shouldn’t be that bad, it is also on Oculus Rift so it shouldn’t be something new for virtual reality gamers. No PS VR, HTC Vive, or Valve Index versions have been announced either.
