Once in a great while we see a game that copies another game to the point it’s legitimately scary. Enter Enchanted Portals, a 2D sidescroller like Cuphead. Which, you know, it’s fine. Whatever, you want to have a game inspired by something, it’s quite flattering.
However, the developers copied so much to the point it’s offensive. A comparison below shows how insanely similar these games truly are and it really does made it sad.
Cuphead even started trending on Twitter because it got so many people upset:
Enchanted Portals has an upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which I personally wouldn’t say support because it is offensive to Studio MDHR, but if you want to, it’ll be launching in a few days. Here are a few responses from people on Twitter:
A video game called Enchanted Portals has had a lot of people call it a ripoff to Cuphead and I have to agree with that consensus. This game feels almost plagiaristic as it has the same mechanics and the art style Cuphead achieved so well. This game is not off to a good start. pic.twitter.com/4YllrWeru4— Animated Antic (@Animated_Antic) October 9, 2019
Enchanted Portals is the Walgreens DVD version of Cuphead. It is a time-honored tradition in art, especially videogames; knock-offs have always been a thing and will always be a thing. Honestly, the animated nature of it all makes my Walgreens analogy even more appropriate. pic.twitter.com/TJWoIF5VDL— ShaunZooBox (@ShaunZooBox) October 9, 2019
