A tweet sent out by Nintendo’s New York store has confirmed that Blizzard has canceled the upcoming launch event for Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch. The game is available now but a meet and greet with some of the voice actors and a chance to try the game out was set to happen on October 16th but yesterday Nintendo NYC sent out a tweet confirming that Blizzard has cancelled the event.

One possible reason for such a last minute decision is due to the most recent controversy where a Hearthstone player spoke about Hong Kong and was stripped of his prize money and suspended for over a year, Blizzard is most likely worried that protesters will show up to the launch event and has decided to cancel the event.

Overwatch is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
