So in a frankly shocking but great move, Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will not have loot boxes or supply drops. Instead, the latest entry in the iconic FPS franchise will have a battle pass, similar to games like Fortnite. All non-cosmetic items (such as weapons) will be obtainable simply by playing the base game, without having to pay for power, something that’s plagued the series since Black Ops 2. The battle pass will come in free and premium tiers, and players will be able to earn COD Points simply by playing more and more of the game. Finally, while the pass will be coming up this year, Activision has announced that it will not be present when the game launches. This is because Activision wants the day one experience to be as awesome as it can be, and they want players to be able to unlock the rewards that lie in the base game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25th!
