Sony Interactive Entertainment has registered a trademark in Brazil for a PlayStation cartridge. This happened earlier this year via the INPI (Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial) and spotted by Let’s Go Digital.

Seems like the future is in the past. Cartridges have been used in gaming for decades and still seem to be going strong to this day. While this doesn’t mean the PlayStation 5 is going to use cartridges, it could mean Sony is making a new handheld console. That would be interesting due to the underperforming sales of the PlayStation Vita.
