The ever so popular Team Fortress 2 apparently has its development put on hold. During a video by content creator Tyler McVicker, various Valve employees have said that development has essentially ended altogether, although never say never with it coming back.

There are very few people working on Team Fortress. I don’t know the exact number, but it’s hardly anyone anymore. I think that’s kind of obvious, because we don’t have big updates for that game really anymore. We’re just kind of keeping it going and we’re just going to try and not shut it down or anything.

Valve won’t ever announce that Team Fortress 2’s development is over, in short, […] players will have to sit in eternal anticipation of the next update. Valve will not tell you that nothing is coming.

Fans of the Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress series have speculated the past few days that both franchises are dead, given Valve’s Twitter banner covers all their IPs expect those.

The remaining team from Team Fortress 2 have moved onto the next Half-Life game subtitled Alyx. However, McVicker notes, the teams are free to go back to whatever they were doing beforehand when Alyx launches. He says it’s unlikely though, and that the teams will create brand new games.
