CD Projekt has recently published their latest quarterly financial report and cite The Witcher III on Nintendo Switch as one of the main sources of the boosted revenue, which was a 38% increase year-on-year.
The actual numbers read as a 92.9 PLN (Polish Zloty), of which 14.9 PLN was profit for CD Projekt. Here is what Piotr Nielubowicz, Vice President of CD Projekt had to say on the good news, which he also talks about Gwent which came to iOS this year.
Our third-quarter revenues were over 38% higher than during the corresponding period in 2018. This is due, among others, to increased sales of The Witcher 3, first shipments of the game’s Nintendo Switch edition and an increase in revenues posted by GOG.com.
We are greatly encouraged by positive reception of both releases on the part of gamers, particularly taking into account the fact that we hadn’t previously released any products for either hardware platform. It is worth noting that throughout the first three weeks following the launch of GWENT on iOS, 68% of revenues associated with this game came from iOS devices.
CD Projekt are in a very good place at the minute, with new life in The Witcher III and Gwent seeming to be doing well with in-game purchases. This is before Cyberpunk 2077 is released next year and even though its in a crowded release window, you can’t help but think it will be just fine. I’ve been waiting since 2012 to play that game, and I can’t wait to play.
Did you play The Witcher III on Nintendo Switch? What did you think? Or are you doing what I’m doing and waiting for a sale? Let us know!
