Red Barrels has announced a new entry in the Outlast series, this time called The Outlast Trials.

Set in the Cold War, The Outlast Trials will be a multiplayer experience: “Trials will allow players to face the horrors that await by themselves or with other test subjects…”. It can either be played solo or with up to 3 other players in a 4 player co-op match.

It’s also not related to Outlast or Outlast 2 story wise, but there is an Outlast 3 on the way eventually the studio has said in the past.

No platforms or dates announced, but the founder of the studio David Chateauneuf has spoken about the game:

Our team is hard at work creating a new experience that will bring fear and anxiety to millions of players, whether they go through the experiments alone or with friends.

Outlast 2, the previous game in the franchise, released 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It arrived on Nintendo Switch in 2018.
