The popular action game studio Platinum Games and holdings company Tencent have announced that they are joining together for a new partnership. As part of this partnership, Tencent has granted Platinum Games a capital investment that will allow the company to “strengthen our foundation as a business and expand from game development into exploring self-publishing,” as CEO Kenichi Sato puts it. He would also like to achieve “a wider global perspective, while still creating high quality games that stay true to our name.”
Platinum Games will remain under their current corporate structure with no changes made. Platinum Games is, of course, currently working on Bayonetta 3 and Babylon’s Fall, and nothing will happen to these projects as a result of the partnership.
