Update #2: Valve issues an official statement on Left 4 Dead 3, confirms they were once working on a next generation project for it.
We’ve seen rumors to this effect for the last couple of months. We did briefly explore some Left 4 Dead next gen opportunities a few years ago. But we are absolutely not working on anything L4D related now, and haven’t for years. It’s clear some people are having fun creating misinformation to spin up the community and other outlets. Unfortunately, for now a new L4D game is not something we’re working on.
Update: HTC corrects their initial announcement, Left 4 Dead 3 was only put there based on rumors.
Original story: After months of speculation and the recent leak of 2011 assets, HTC China has officially confirmed Left 4 Dead 3.
During a presentation, it was noted that Half-Life: Alyx and Left 4 Dead 3 will drive consumer AAA studio interest. That is quite true, as it’s a massive IP that’s been highly anticipated to return.

Left 4 Dead 3 was actually in development for console, PC, and VR but was canceled in 2017 due to Source 2 not being complete. The development team wanted to use Unreal Engine 4 for the game but instead got thrown on the Half-Life: Alyx team until the engine was fixed.
Left 4 Dead 3 is currently only slated for HTC Vive at the moment. It will 99.9% be coming to Valve Index. It is unknown if it will hit console or PC.
