Sony is going all out with its games, between Sony Music Entertainment gearing up for a AAA, the PlayStation giant Sony Interactive Entertainment preparing to launch the PS5 later this year, and now we have Sony Pictures Entertainment exploring multiple ways to increase visual fidelity in their games like ray tracing.
A job posting for a Senior Graphics Programmer confirms that Sony Pictures Virtual Reality will be looking into new ways to improve graphics, not just by ray tracing, but stuff like streaming, shaders, and more.
As a Senior Graphics Programmer, this role is responsible for designing, implementing, debugging and maintaining graphics systems and tools for both real-time engine and offline use. Areas of specific responsibility include streaming, LOD, shaders, and 2D image processing.
To help drive and innovate future research into new graphics fields for example hardware ray-tracing. The Engineer will work closely with the senior team management as well as with other team members to deliver high quality graphics features and solutions.
The upcoming slate of games from Sony Pictures Virtual Reality is currently unknown. They previously released games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Homecoming: Virtual Reality Experience, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality, Jumanji: Reverse the Curse, and Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son.
