Sega has just announced their Sonic 2020 Initiative, which will see Sonic the Hedgehog news released on the 20th of every month throughout 2020.

This news probably won’t be massive every month but it’s definitley something Sonic fans can look forward to. Sega are busy preparing Sonic’s 30th Anniversary, so it’s a good time to be a Sonic fan at the moment with the film out next month with an impressive redesign which makes the film look not terrible. Who knows, we could get the next Detective Pikachu with that one.

The last Sonic game was the racing spin-off Team Sonic Racing which was not badly received by fans and critics. The last “mainline” Sonic games were 2017’s Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania, the latter more favourable with fans than the other.

Today’s announcements is kind of cool. An arrangement of wallpapers, SNS Icons and Twitter banners from Sega’s website. It appears that the announcements will be posted here when it is the 20th.

Fans really want a Sonic Adventure 3 and with Sega seeming to be all ears recently, it’s not out of the realms of possibility. What do you think we will see in these announcements? Spin-off games, toys and merchadise in general? Be sure to let us know and as always, we’ll have the news for you on Sonic’s 2020 Initiative when Sega announce it.
