Every year, GDC developers take a survey of what interests them most to develop for. This year, PC leads with a huge 50%, next up after that is PS5 with a monumental 38% and followed up right behind that with Nintendo Switch at a 37%.

Unfortunately, Xbox doesn’t appear until 25%, which sits under even VR devices which clock in at 27%. It’s likely Xbox Series X doesn’t have many titles in development based on this, which given dev kits didn’t start going out until a few months back, it’s not surprising.

The VR excitement isn’t very shocking, with PS VR surpassing 5 million units, then you have Valve selling out of headsets because of Half-Life: Alyx, on the other side of the road you have Oculus Quest just being an absolute beast selling out because it’s purely awesome. VR is here to stay and developers are seeing that.

Voice Powered Games is an interesting thing to note, Bethesda toyed with this via The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Amazon Edition. Those will definitely be something on the lookout for.

3DS is essentially dead, and macOS has a surprising 11% rate, I didn’t expect that in the slightest. That’s a high number given many developers are dropping out left and right for the platform given restrictions on hardware.
