Bungie is making a new game that’s not destiny 3, the studio needs an art director to “guide a prototype on the path to production” for “a new franchise”
“Our vision ultimately through 2025 is to become one of the world’s best entertainment companies,” said Bungie CEO Pete Parsons last year. “We have a pretty specific path to make sure we transform Destiny and that we have other franchises within the marketplace.” When Bungie decided to break away from Activision last year, Activision then offered Bungie freedom and flexibility on there IPs, which because of this Destiny 2: New Light was born, which included all content before shadowkeep and forsaken, but it did include some content from those two dlc’s. The company had previously mentioned that it had plans to diversify its portfolio, which has helped them along the way by receiving a huge investment from a Chinese company NetEase in 2018.
The job opportunity is definitely not for Destiny. “As the Incubation Art Director, you will define the look of a new Bungie IP and work on all aspects of art to guide a prototype on the path to production,” It also reads. “Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, and passionate cross-discipline team devoted to making a new franchise at Bungie.” So this is definitely not for Destiny. This project is supposed to feature a “comedic” tone with “lighthearted and whimsical characters,” and will also create “deeply invested communities.” This is very intriguing because Bungie tries to keep stuff like this under lock and key so leaks won’t get out. But really after that, there really isn’t anymore information about the new franchise.
This seems like its in its early stages, so we probably won’t hear about this for a few years to come, but who knows we might even hear something about it tomorrow.
