CrossFire, an online tactical first person shooter, is getting a movie adaptation by Sony Pictures and co-produced and co-financed by Tencent Pictures.

If you don’t know what CrossFire is or why this matters, it’s because CrossFire is insanely popular in China and South Korea, it’s generated around 10.8 billion in lifetime revenue and has about 20 million people that watch or attend esports events.

So yeah, it’s quite a big deal now that it’s being adapted into a movie. We also know that the producer of The Fast and The Furious saga and the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie is at the helm of producing the CrossFire adaptation.

And that’s all we know about the new movie, since it’s probably in the early stages of development it’ll probably be a while before we get an update.
